Our board is unique to include a variety of representation. We wanted to make sure that we represent the sickle cell community in its entirety.
Mr. Robert Simmons
Mr. Arthur McDade, Red Cross
Angela Mull is the sickle cell specialty nurse at Arkansas Children’s Hospital where she has been a nurse since 1992. She has been the sickle cell specialty nurse through the UAMS Department of Pediatrics since July 1998 and works with Dr. Suzanne Saccente, Dr. Shelley Crary, and Dr. Rebecca Patterson in the clinical setting. Mrs. Mull also has past nursing experience in the infant-toddler unit, as lactation specialty nurse, and pediatric GI specialty nurse. She is the study coordinator for the sickle cell studies held at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Mrs. Mull is very active in the sickle cell community acting as educator, counselor, fund raiser, public relations, and camp nurse. Angela serves as representation of our medical community.
Tara Dickerson, 32 years old and has Sickle Cell Anemia. She has Sickle Beta Thalassemia Disease. Sickle Cell is a scary disease to deal with, and has been told for so long that she wouldn't live past certain ages. She believes due to all the modern medicines and her cooperation she has lived a good life. She is currently in school studying to recieve her Associate of Science degree. She enjoy's working with Preschool to High school age children. Tara is our adult patient representative on the board. She serves in the capcity of our Secretary.
Krystie Brumfield-Bailey is married to Aaron Bailey and has one daughter, Gabrielle. Employed for the past 11 years with the Little Rock School District and currently works at Dr. Martin L. King Elem. teaching 1st grade. She has a Masters of Arts in Reading and Literacy and serves on the schools Leadership Team. She attends 2nd Baptist Church, John Barrow, LR and serves as Childrens Ministry Leader. Enjoys spending time with family and friends, bike riding, and cooking. Kryste is our parent liasion an active with our support groups.
Kennede is 13 year teen girl living with Sickle Cell plus Beta Thailisemia. Making straight A's is a priority in my book, but math comes as a hobby to me. I love children, doing hair and listening to music. My life centers around Christ and I probably wouldn't be here without him. Friends and family make my sickle cell life great and I hope to become a Hematologist when I am older. In doing this, I plan to conduct studies to find a cure for all types of sickle cell. Kennede is our youth patient representation on our board.
